Political views and interests by Americans have been the topic of many news articles and stories. Yet, how Americans view their state and local governments has been favorable. According to a Pew Research survey in 2022, 66% of American adults have a favorable view of their local government, and 54% have a favorable view of their state government.

Radio On Main Street Featuring Rich Eisen of the Rich Eisen Show on Westwood One, Roku and Sirius/XM

In our fifth podcast of the series, we hear from Rich Eisen, host of the Rich Eisen show, which blends sports, pop culture, humor and interviews discussing topical issues not commonly addressed by sportscasters. With multi-channel distribution, he is heard on Westwood One Radio, the Roku channel for TV and Sirius/XM. With a busy schedule, Erica Farber was able to catch up with him while he was in Canton, Ohio, for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. With multiple Emmy nominations, this year he will be hosting the 2023 Marconi Awards, where he is also a Marconi nominee. Radio allows Rich to talk to people and as he shared, nothing beats calling a radio show or a host to speak with someone to make a personal connection, and he loves that!

DeDe and her team, which includes J.J. Williamson, J-Cruz, Kita Rose and the newest member Trey G, explore the day’s topics such as the latest national headlines, hip-hop culture happenings, artist news and community events. It’s fun, funny, a family, informative and crazy all at the same time! As DeDe shares, radio is consistent and stable, and social media just helps to expand the relationship and has helped her know and connect with her audience better.

In our seventh podcast of the series, we hear the conversation Erica Farber had with the nationally known rock music expert Matt Pinfield. Matt is host of the syndicated radio show on Westwood One called “Flashback,” and he is also host of a show heard on 95.5 KLOS in Los Angeles called “New & Improved.” Music discovery has always been his passion, and he really enjoys turning his listeners on to new music and artists. Matt believes that radio is important, that there will always be a place for it and people will always have a relationship with it. He also believes that the listeners are a lot more loyal than advertisers might give them credit.

In our eighth podcast of the series, we hear the conversation Erica had with the morning hosts of the Tad, Drex and Kara Show heard on B98.5 Atlanta, a CMG station. This morning show trifecta’s communication between them is jaw droppingly good as they practically finish each other’s thoughts! Tad, Drex and Kara shared that radio is the only medium where an advertiser can tell their story however they want and then it gives the listeners the option to interpret it the way they want.  Listeners can a hear message and then add to that experience.

Scams Targeting Small Businesses

News outlets regularly discuss the impact of scams and fraud on individuals and high-dollar schemes that target large and established companies make headlines. However, less attention is paid to lower dollar frauds and scams targeting small businesses. Small business personnel may be more likely to make key mistakes in interactions with scammers, as they may jump at opportunities to save money on business essentials, and they shoulder significant workloads without the infrastructure or security tools available at larger businesses to protect themselves from scammers.

Radio listeners are packing it up!

Stay-at-home orders are but a distant memory in the minds of the average consumer. People are ready to see attractions near and far from their homes. Consumers are ready to relax on the beach, take a trek through the mountains or travel for shopping excursions on Rodeo Drive or on Fifth Avenue. In short, travel is back.
